Good afternoon!!

Long time no talk I apologize for the delay in posting to all of you who are paying attention but today I wanted to write about a crazy occurrence that happens to us all and yet I know I dont give it enough respect.

I know everybody knows this and it won't be anything new but I wanted to right about one of most challenging things facing "running the race" of our lives... Distractions!!! To all of my fellow "runners" here this may seem very basic but its funny how life seems to hit and the things that are important fall to the wayside while the little things take over.

Dont get me wrong these little things are important, setting our schedule, time with people, bills, work, schools, hobbies, and all the like and yet they take us slowly away from that which is important. One of the major reasons its taken me so long to post again is that I have gotten distracted by the many aspects of life and allowed them to take over rather than stay focused and move ahead. From high school ministry to the future ahead the unknown is something that scares me and its easier for me to get lost in the details and worry than fight with my eyes focused on whats to come.

It makes me think of these amazing athletes going in the NFL Draft who have been so blessed but for some reason allow the distractions around them pull them away from the thing they love and in many ways defines them. There day to day small decisions they make determine who and what they will be, as far as their respective careers in the sport goes. And if you are anything like me you get upset with these guys who seem to be given it all and yet throw it away for some partying, drugs, or relationships they should never be in. We feel so right to be indignant towards these decisions and things and yet if we take a step back and use the same lens on our lives don't we do the same things. While our misgivings and misguided decisions are on a less public and obvious scale, isn't it exactly the same?

If you are reading this right now, we have been given so, so, so much and yet we let life take us away from the things that matter, truly loving God and people. Stopping to think about that today and how my life in many way resembles those of these athletes who has been given much and tends to squander it with distractions.

If you are reading this I hope you can join me in this fight to get some perspective and prioritize that which is going to matter in this race of life.

much love,

A

Heb 12:1-2 (Voice)
So since we stand surrounded by all those who have gone before, an enormous cloud of witnesses, let us drop every extra weight, every sin that clings to usand slackens our pace, and let us run with endurance the long race set before us.Now stay focused on Jesus, who designed and perfected our faith. He endured the cross and ignored the shame of that death because He focused on the joy that was set before Him; and now He is seated beside God on the throne, a place of honor.
